Cuore Water Sampling & Publication Protocol

Cuore Water Intelligence is built from documented water samples. A number is published only when its sampling context, analytical method and evidence record are available.

1. Sample identity

Each sample receives a unique sample ID and records the city, area or zone, water source and sampling date.

2. Parameters

The core dataset separates total hardness from total dissolved solids (TDS). Where available, calcium, magnesium and pH are recorded separately. Hardness is reported as mg/L as CaCO3 unless the underlying laboratory method specifies otherwise.

3. Analytical evidence

Every published measurement must have a documented test method, laboratory or testing facility and report/evidence reference. Consumer estimates, web estimates and unverified secondary figures are not entered as Cuore first-party measurements.

4. Sampling context

Water chemistry can vary by source, building, treatment system, season and location. A single sample is therefore treated as a sample observation, not as proof of the chemistry of an entire city.

5. Publication rules

  • Verified measurements are published with their sampling context.
  • Unverified or incomplete measurements remain unpublished.
  • TDS is never presented as a substitute for hardness.
  • City-level summaries are published only when the dataset is sufficiently developed to support the stated interpretation.
  • Cosmetic or health outcomes are not inferred directly from a water measurement.

6. Index methodology

The Cuore Hard Water Index will be calculated only after sufficient verified observations exist. Until then, the Index page remains a framework rather than a ranking.

7. Limitations

Cuore Water Intelligence is a first-party dataset, not a national water-quality surveillance program. Coverage, sampling density and source mix will affect interpretation. All published summaries will state their limitations.
